In the 1851 Census of the Civil Parish of St. Pancras 49 year old William Maxam, a cab driver, born in Suffolk, lived at 21 Roberts Mews, in District 9, Regents Park, St. Pancras, Middlesex with his 45 year old wife, Jane, born in South Hampton, and their children Edward, a 23 year old porter, Mary, aged 19, Sarah, aged 17, Henry, a 15 year old errand boy, George, a 13 year old errand boy, Charles, 11 years of age and Emily Maxam, aged 9. All of the children were born in the parish of Marylebone Middlesex, England.
[Note: it appears that there were some errors in the 1851 Census of this household. William was not born at Suffolk but Essex County.The wife of William Maxam is recorded as Jane born in South Hampton. This was incorrect . her Christian name before, at the time of the census and after that was "Hannah". The Jane that was recorded did show the correct place of birth - namely Southhampton. Another mistake was in the birth parish of Emily. The family apparentlly moved before Emily was born and she was born in the parish of Haddington, Middlesex. The lack of recording in 1841 census and the fact that Emily's birth was never registered may have been due to the fact that the family was in the process of relocating .]

In the 1861 Census of 45 Johnson Street, District 12, Somers Town, Civil Parish of St. Pancras, Middlesx County, England 59 year old William Maxam, a cab driver, born in Folkworth [The census taker obviously misunderstood as it was actually Foxearth], Essex lived with his 55 year old wife, Hannah, born in South Hampton, and their children, George, a 23 year old cab driver, Charles, a 21 yearold lithographic printer Emily Maxam, aged 19, a general servant. The sons were born in the parish of Marylebone Middlesex, England, while Emily was recorded as having been born in the parish of Haddington, Middlesex. William and Hannah's granddaughter, 9 year old Georgina Maxam, a scholar, born in St. Pancras was also living in this household.[ Note: although the births of some grandchildren of William and Hannah were registered in St Pancras during the period 1850 - 1860, Georgina' birth was not registered.]

In the 1871 Census of 16 Clarendon Square, District 4a,Somers Town, St Pancras, Middlesex County, England 68 year old Cab Driver William Maxam, born in Essex lived with his wife, 64 year old Hannah, born in Hampshire and their 19 year old granddaughter Georgehannah, born in St Pancras Middlssex, recorded as having no occupation

Hanna Maxam' death was registered in the 3rd Quarter of 1874 at 68 years of age in St. Pancras

In the 1881 Census of Camden Town, St. Pancras, Wlliam Maxam was in a Workhouse and was recorded as a 79 year old widowed butcher [In actual fact in all previous census he was a cab driver. His place of birth was stated to be The parish of Foxearth, Essex
