The Marine Aquarium Council (MAC) is an independent, international
non-profit organization headquartered in Hawaii. MAC is a comprehensive,
multi-stakeholder effort that brings together representatives of the aquarium
industry, hobbyists, conservation organizations, government agencies, public
aquariums, international organizations and others---all
with a shared interest in the sustainabilty of marine aquarium organisms and
their habitat and the marine ornamental trade.
The
Mission of the Marine Aquarium Council is to conserve coral reefs and other
marine ecosystems by creating standards and educating and certifying those
engaged in the collection and care of ornamental marine life from reef to
aquarium
